The Riverhead Tomcats of the Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League are looking for families who have space to house a baseball player this summer.

Host families are to provide a room, a bed, and a place to do laundry. Meals are the responsibility of the players, although most tend to just eat with their host families. Host families will not need to provide transportation for the players.

The players will be in town from May 30th to the first week of August.

This year the Tomcats have players from all over the country: Maryland, Alabama, Illinois, Indiana, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Florida, and Michigan.

With their stay, the Tomcats hope to give back to the community by offering free clinics for the youth.

According to the league’s website, hamptonsbaseball.org, a host family “is one of the most important and influential aspects of a ballplayer’s summer collegiate league baseball experience. While some of our players will be from the New York area, many of them will be in a brand new environment, away from both their school and home. Hamptons Collegiate Baseball strongly believes the relationships that are forged between players and their host families will be memorable and will last a lifetime. There really is no other way to get this close to the team and the game.”
