The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a dense fog advisory… which is in effect until 9 am EDT this morning.

* Locations… the Twin Forks of Long Island and New London County Connecticut.

* Hazards… dense fog.

* Visibilities… one quarter mile or less at times.

* Timing… through early this morning.

* Impacts… hazardous travel due to reduced visibilities.

Precautionary/preparedness actions…

A dense fog advisory means visibilities will frequently be reduced to one quarter mile or less. If driving… slow down… use your low beam headlights… and leave plenty of distance ahead of you in case a sudden stop is needed.

Patchy dense fog has developed across the Twin Forks of Long Island and southern New London Connecticut. Visibilities could be 1/4 mile of less at times. Motorists should be prepared for rapidly changing visibilities. Slow down… use low beam headlights… and leave plenty of distance ahead of you in case a sudden stop is needed. Visibilities should begin to improve after 8 am Saturday morning.
