Two 50-year members of the Riverhead Fire Department were honored for their service Tuesday night by the fire department, firefighters associations and an assortment of elected officials.

Francis “Frannie” Davis and Conrad Dabrowski, both natives and lifelong residents of the town, were presented with awards and accolades from the Riverhead Fire Department, state and county firefighters associations, Rep. Lee Zeldin, County Legislator Al Krupski, Riverhead Town Supervisor Sean Walter and the Riverhead Town Board, and Southampton Town Supervisor Anna Throne-Holst.

Both men joined the fire department in October 1965. Davis became a member of the Reliable Hose & Engine Company No.1 and Dabrowski joined the Red Bird Hook & Ladder Co. No. 1, which named him firefighter of the year in 2014.

Davis is a veteran who has been an active member of the Riverhead VFW. He worked for Grumman, Agway and Warner’s Fuel. In March 1984 he was pictured on the front page of Newsday carrying a woman from floodwaters on Peconic Avenue.

Davis is married to Dot since Nov. 10, 1957 and have two sons, Mike and Glenn, and four grandchildren: Lisa, Lauren, Hailey and Jason.

Dabrowski worked for Rolle Brothers, and for Brookhaven National Laboratory for 34 1/2 years. He remains active in the department on numerous committees, and serves as chairman of the department’s community blood drives. He and his wife Mary, who were married in 1962, have three children.
