A 37-year-old Flanders man died after being struck by a pickup truck while crossing Flanders Road early Sunday morning, Southampton Town police said.
Wayne Conforti Jr. was crossing Flanders Road near Oak Avenue at about 1:30 a.m. on August 30, 2026, when he was hit by a westbound white 2016 Toyota Tacoma, according to a Southampton Town Police Department press release.
Police said responding officers found Conforti lying in the roadway with serious injuries. Members of the Flanders Northampton Volunteer Ambulance Corps treated him at the scene and transported him to Peconic Bay Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The driver was not injured, police said. The vehicle was impounded for a safety inspection.
Southampton Town police detectives are continuing to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to contact the department’s Detective Division at 631-702-2230.
