A head-on crash on Sound Avenue in Jamesport sent four people to the hospital Saturday afternoon.

The driver of a westbound Ford pickup truck suffered some kind of medical emergency and entered the eastbound lane, colliding with an eastbound Toyota SUV at about 2:05 p.m., according to police at the scene.

The pickup truck’s driver, a 26-year-old female, was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital. Two adults and a child in the SUV were taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center by Mattituck FD Rescue for glass fragments and cuts, police said.

Eastbound traffic on Sound Avenue is being diverted south on Herricks Lane to Main Road.

Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Jamesport Fire Department and Mattituck FD Rescue responded to the scene.
