Riverhead’s second SantaCon pub crawl drew a festive holiday crowd to downtown Riverhead Saturday.
The event, produced by the Suffolk Theater, was a fundraiser for the Bread and More Soup Kitchen and the First Congregational Church restoration. Proceeds from the sale of a $10 bracelet are donated to designated beneficiaries of SantaCon. The bracelets entitled wearers to specials at a dozen or so downtown venues.
SantaCon made its Long Island debut in Riverhead last year and raised $7,800 for the Brendan House, a group home in Riverhead for people suffering from traumatic brain injury.
The Bread and More Soup Kitchen cooks and serves dinners for the hungry twice weekly at the First Congregational Church, where the sanctuary is undergoing emergency renovations due to a collapsing roof.
