An equipment failure that occurred while PSEG crews were working on a system upgrade caused a power outage that affected nearly 2,400 customers in portions of Riverhead and Calverton this morning, according to a utility company spokesperson.
Crews isolated the area so that it was safe to repair the equipment, spokesperson Elizabeth Flagler.
The outage occurred shortly after 10:30 this morning. Flagler said 2,100 customers were out for 53 minutes, while 149 customers did not have power restored until about 3 p.m.
