East Main Street will be closed to vehicular traffic today between Peconic/Roanoke and Union avenues for snow removal operations by town highway department crews, Riverhead Highway Superintendent George Woodson said this morning.

Crews are using payloaders to put snow in dump trucks to be hauled off.

Main Street will be closed all morning for the work, Woodson said. “I’m hoping by noon we should be out of there,” he said.
