A crash early this morning on southbound 105 caused major delays

A two-vehicle crash on County Road 105 has snarled southbound traffic on that roadway, blocking the main thoroughfare connecting the twin forks during the morning rush hour.

A black BMW merging onto southbound 105 from Hubbard Avenue at about 7:40 this morning was struck by a pickup truck, according to Riverhead Town Police at the scene. The woman driving the BMW sustained injuries described as not life-threatening. The driver of the truck was not injured, police said.

The crash scattered debris across the roadway. The southbound lanes of the divided highway were closed while the accident scene was cleared.

No additional information was immediately available. The crash is under investigation, police said.
