The Riverhead High School Blue Masques present the musical “Hairspray,” the story of Tracy Turnblad, a big-haired ’60s teenager who hopes to win a chance to dance on The Corny Collins Show, a local popular teen dance show.

While spending some time in detention, she learns some dance moves from her African-American friends and uses her newfound grooviness to make her dream come true. Once on the show, she becomes an instant local celebrity who is determined to use that fame to integrate the show.

Opening night is Friday, March 31 at 7 p.m. The show also plays two performances on Saturday, April 1 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and a matinee on Sunday, April 2 at 2 p.m. All shows take place in the high school auditorium.

Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door, $5 for senior citizens and free for Riverhead High School students with ID.
