The Riverhead community turned out for a big Italian meal at Polish Hall yesterday, served up by Riverhead Rotary at the club’s annual Herb Dresher Memorial Spaghetti Lunch and Dinner.
Rotarians dished out about 700 meals yesterday, event chairman Tom Carson said.
Carson and his dedicated kitchen crew cooked up a savory spaghetti sauce, meatballs, chicken parmigiana, and garlic bread. A tossed salad and ice cream dessert finished off the meal.
Cadets from the Riverhead High School NJROTC unit helped serve food and bus tables.
“Once again, we couldn’t have done it without their help. Our thanks go out to Capt. Matt Loughlin, Gunnery Sgt. Charles Mahala and all the cadets,” said Riverhead Rotary president Beth Hanlon. “The youthful energy and enthusiasm of these kids can’t be beat.”
Hanlon said Rotary deeply appreciates the support of the community for this fun event, a fundraiser to benefit Riverhead Rotary Charities, supporting charitable causes and nonprofit organizations.
