It was senior day yesterday for the Blue Waves girls lacrosse team, which celebrated its seven senior players and rolled past Copiague with a big 17-1 win.

It was an easy outing for Riverhead, as they moved the ball with precision and scored at will. The Waves were up 10-0 at the half, and the second half was a repeat of the first, with a lot of Riverhead defenders moving up to get that chance at scoring a goal in their senior year, before season’s end.

All in all, 10 different girls scored for Riverhead for the 17-1 win over Copiague.

Riverhead (7-4-0 in Div. I, 8-5-0 overall) has a two-game road trip up next, traveling to West Islip (5-6, 7-6) tomorrow and Lindenhurst on Monday, before returning home to finish the season against a tough Smithtown East squad on Wednesday, May 10 at 4:30 p.m.
