Members of the Riverhead High School Bible Club joined other groups on a walk to help raise funds to fight breast cancer. The students participated in an event called Making Strides held at Suffolk County Community College on Oct. 22.
The team was ranked 23rd out of 145 participating teams in the event.
Their original goal was to raise $500, but under the direction of adviser Leyda Flores and with the assistance of friends, families and teachers, they were able to surpass their goal. In fact, they raised more than $1000 for their efforts.
