Riverhead Idol is back.

After a one-year hiatus, during which the town recreation department held a “Riverhead’s Got Talent” competition, the popular singing contest will return to the stage of the Shade Tree Center in Aquebogue on Sunday, Feb. 11 at 2 p.m.

Open auditions will take place at the center tomorrow, Jan. 18 from 2:30 to 4:30 or by appointment. The center is located at 60 Shade Tree Lane. Prospective contestants must be residents of Riverhead — or Riverhead School District students — in grades 7 through 12 and should be prepared to sing two Disney songs of their choice.

Tickets for the Feb. 11 show will go on sale Monday, Jan. 29 at the Shade Tree Lane center during regular business hours. For more information or to make an appointment for an audition outside of the specified times email Liz Flood at flood@townofriverheadny.gov.
