Susan Lee, MD, has joined Northwell Health as chief of breast surgery at Long Island Jewish (LIJ) Forest Hills in Queens; she will also see patients in Riverhead and operate at Peconic Bay Medical Center.
Lee is a breast fellowship-trained breast surgeon with 14 years of surgical experience, bringing a multidisciplinary perspective to treating breast cancer.
“Breast surgery is so much more than just surgery,” said Lee. “Whenever someone does a breast fellowship it encompasses learning about other medical aspects of it, such as medical oncology, radiation oncology, oncoplastic and plastic surgery, pathology and radiology so you get exposure and training in all those areas.”
Lee brings expertise to her new position, having served as assistant director of Breast Health at NYU Winthrop Hospital in Mineola, where she practiced for four years.
From 2003 to 2014, Lee was a member of the surgical staff and served as acting director of the Breast Health Center at New York Presbyterian Queens. During that time, she was also an assistant professor of surgery in Clinical Obstetrics and Gynecology at Weill Medical College of Cornell University.
She will be seeing patients based at Northwell Health Physician Partners Urology and Surgery at Riverhead, 1267 East Main Street, Riverhead. To schedule an appointment at with Lee, call 718-925-6294.
