Riverhead took an opening day loss to Bay Shore yesterday at Riverhead High School.
Katie Lysogorski took to the mound to start. Bay Shore came out swinging and scored two in the top of the first. The visiting team held the Blue Waves scoreless through four, adding a run in the fourth and another in the fifth. Riverhead came back to score three runs in the bottom of the fifth. The Waves loaded the bases in the bottom of the sixth but couldn’t bring anyone home and Bay Shore held on for a 4-3 win.
Riverhead’s next home game is today, March 28 against Copiague, a non-league game rescheduled from March 21. Gam time is 4:15 p.m.
