Riverhead High School alumna Carolyn Carrera (2014) has been named America East Defensive Player of the Week.

Carrera, a senior at Stony Brook University, is a starting defender and a very big part of the undefeated Seawolves women’s lacrosse team this year.

Her past accomplishments include lettering in lacrosse, soccer, basketball, and track at Riverhead High School.

In 2013, she was named New York State Wendy’s High School Heisman Award winner. She was a two-time U.S. Lacrosse Academic All-American, a four-time MVP, and earned all-league honors in each of her four seasons.

She transferred from Hofstra to Stony Brook after her sophomore year. While at Hofstra, she started in every game and led the CAA with 3.44 draw controls per game in 2016, when she was a CAA All-American selection.
