Riverhead police, fire marshal and code enforcement officers, in an operation conducted jointly with Suffolk County Police Intel detectives and Immigration and Customs Enforcement, yesterday shut down a massage parlor operating in a Route 58 office park bordering Riverhead High School.
Two women were arrested in the raid. Xiaoli Ye, 44, and Guo Hua-Wan, 39, both of Flushing, Queens, were both charged with unauthorized practice of a profession, a class E felony, Riverhead Police said. Ye was additionally charged with one count of prostitution, a class B misdemeanor, police said.
Investigators found numerous town and state code violations, police said. The premises, located in suite E2 in the County Seat Professional Complex at 1149 Old Country Road, were condemned as unfit for occupancy.
The sign outside the entrance door identifies the occupant of Suite E2 as “Sunrise Hypnosis Care Inc.” That entity was registered as a business corporation in New York in July 2017, according to state records.
The “E building” where the raid took place borders Riverhead High School.
Riverhead Police said the investigation was initiated in response to community complaints.
Editor’s note: A criminal charge is an accusation. By law, a person charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
