A man was arrested on a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement warrant early this morning after trying to flee on foot, Riverhead police said.

Riverhead Town Police received a call at 5:07 a.m. requesting assistance from ICE officers attempting to arrest a man in the area of Osborn Avenue and Pulaski Street.

The unidentified man fled on foot, but was eventually apprehended on West Main Street and taken into custody by ICE.

Police said they cannot confirm the identity of the man or the reason for the ICE warrant at this time. New York State Police also assisted with the arrest, Riverhead Police said.

This is a developing story. More details will be reported as they become available.
