Dear Editor:

I am writing this letter in response to a recent op-ed in your paper, penned by Democratic candidate Perry Gershon. The piece’s conflicting sentiments have left me confused about Gershon’s true view of our current economy.

Gershon mentions multiple times that the economy is growing, and even credits “Trump-Zeldin” policies for “good economic news.” Despite bringing up this good news that benefits all Americans, Gershon still tries to frame our economic prosperity in a negative light so that he could score political points.

He begins by saying “Sure some stock prices are up”. This statement alone has caused me to question the validity of everything Gershon says that follows. It leaves me unsure of whether he is reluctant to admit that the economy is booming, or if he truly is unaware of the magnitude by which it is.

Over the past year and a half, we have seen the stock market continues to reach new highs while unemployment numbers keep hitting new lows. This is not just “some stock prices” going up. This is the dramatic revitalization of the United States economy, which is good news for everyone.

Gershon momentarily concedes that “Trump-Zeldin policies” he is so staunchly opposed to have played a large part in kick-starting our economy.

Instead of admitting the objective truth that our economy is doing well by almost all available measures, Gershon attempted to gain political point at the expense of representing the truth.
