Dragons, dinosaurs, witches and superheroes were among the creatures prowling the parking lot at Stotzky Park last night during the Riverhead Recreation Department’s second annual Trunk or Treat event.

Residents, local businesses and even town police decorated their trunks, hatches and truck beds with creatively spooky displays at the free event. There were 20 vehicles participating. Costumed kids made the rounds collecting treats and playing games offered by the Trunk or Treat participants — nearly all of whom were also in costume.

The Recreation Department provided a bounce house and face-painting done by the department’s youth planning board.
