Riverhead Town officials celebrated the grand opening of Meraki Creative Suites yesterday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The business currently hosts hair, makeup and beauty professionals, as well as a caterer.
“The concept is for entrepreneurs and creative professional businesses to start their own business,” co-owner Steph Sheeran said. “To work for themselves, create their own hours and keep their own profits with a low startup cost.”
The suite hosts businesses in the building formerly occupied by the old post office, located on West 2nd St. downtown. Sheeran said Meraki wants to expand to more areas of the town to open more spaces. “The whole concept is to support creative professionals,” Sheeran said.

There are currently 10 businesses running out of the studio, including VIP Studios, which does women’s cosmetics and hair; Debbie Lashes and Make-up; Carol Thornton, who is opening the Studio 6 hair salon; Innocente Beauty, a nail and makeup salon; hair stylist All About Capelli; Taila, a hair stylist; Kayla, a hair stylist and cosmetologist; Dakota Thilberg’s Skye’s Hampton Hair; and Chef T. Pierce, the owner of two catering companies, “Food Therapy” which specializes in Southern cuisine and Prescribed Sweetness which specializes in gourmet desserts.
Sheeran said Riverhead was an ideal place to open the business because of its location between the forks. She said “Riverhead is a place where people are expanding to.” She said she owns a hair salon in Bellmore, and that salon suites and hair professionals were “needed” in Riverhead.
“Helping entrepreneurs and business owners is always a great thing and we are extremely happy to welcome Meraki Suites to Riverhead,” Riverhead Chamber of Commerce President and Town Councilman-Elect Bob Kern said.
