Rain will likely change to freezing rain in Riverhead late this afternoon or early this evening, as temperatures fall to around 31° by 5 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. Rain, freezing rain or sleet are likely until about 10 p.m. Little or no ice accumulation is expected locally.

A winter weather advisory is in effect today from noon to 7 p.m.

Breezy, with a southwest winds 10 to 20 mph this morning becoming north in the afternoon will produce wind chill values between 20 and 30 today and between 10 and 15 tonight, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the evening commute, the weather service said in the advisory.
