Come one, come all to the 41st annual Hallockville Country Fair on Saturday, Sept. 17 and Sunday, Sept. 18 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The fair is a cultural experience to celebrate Long Island’s agricultural heritage. The event includes traditional crafts and games, folk art demonstrations, a petting zoo, pony rides, wagon rides, musical performances, art and crafts vendors, farm livestock and more.
Admission to the fair costs $10 and tickets can be purchased in advanced by visiting the museum farm’s website.
“The Hallockville Country Fair has been a North Fork tradition for more than four decades, and this year we’re introducing new elements to add to the fun,” said Hallockville Museum Farm Executive Director Roberta Shoten.
The event will also feature the second annual jam and honey contest judged by special guests.
“If folks say you make the tastiest beach plum jam or your bees produce the best honey – put it to the test,” said Hallockville Museum Farm Executive Director Roberta Shoten. “The Hallockville Country Fair is the perfect place for a friendly food competition and the winners get bragging rights for a full year!”
Three joint winners will be named for each category and will receive ribbons, medals and bragging rights. Jam and jelly entries must be made by the contestants on Long Island of their own preserves. Honey entries are open to individuals who own or manage their hives on Long Island.
Entries cost $10 and must be dropped off in-person from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Hallockville Museum Farm office at 6038 Sound Ave. in Riverhead before Thursday, Sept. 1. Entry forms and a list of complete rules can be found on the museum farm website.
