A man police describe as undomiciled was arrested and charged with grand larceny yesterday in connection with the Oct. 6 theft of power tools and accessories from a vehicle parked in an East Main Street lot.
Police said they received a report of the theft shortly after 12 noon on Oct. 6. The theft occurred in the parking lot outside the Shipyard apartments at 331 East Main Street, where power tools and accessories were removed from an unlocked van, according to a police press release issued this morning.
An investigation by patrol officers, with the assistance from the Riverhead Police detective division, resulted in the arrest yesterday of Brian Jenkins, 56, according to the police report.
Jenkins was arrested on a charge of Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, a class E felony, police said. He was processed on the charge and released on a desk appearance ticket for a later date in Riverhead Town Justice Court, police said.
Editor’s note: A criminal charge is an accusation. A person charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
