A coastal flood advisory has been issued for eastern Suffolk from 2 a.m. Sunday to 11 a.m. Sunday.
Widespread minor flooding is expected in the most vulnerable locations near the waterfront, especially during the Sunday morning high tide cycle, when up to 1 ½ feet of inundation above ground level is possible in low-lying areas, the National Weather Service said in the advisory.
Some roads and low lying property including parking lots, parks, lawns and homes/businesses with basements near the waterfront will experience shallow flooding, the weather service said.
High tide for the Peconic River in Riverhead Sunday is approximately 8 a.m. The total tide is forecast to be 2 ½ to 3 feet above normal. Minor coastal flooding is expected.
