Four Riverhead High School musicians have been selected for Suffolk’s All-County music festival.
Seniors Melissa Garcia, percussionist, Christopher Gonzalez Guazhambo, clarinetist and Cheyanne Metzger, vocalist, and junior Christian Seymour, saxophonist, are performing at the NYSCAME All-County festival Nov. 15.
Melissa, Christopher and Christian will perform with the All-County Band. Cheyanne will perform with the All-County Chorus as a Soprano 1.
Christian has also been selected as an alternate for the All-State Band.
Students are selected for these honors based on their New York State School Music Association audition scores and recommendations from their music teachers.
“The Riverhead Central School District is proud to cultivate the musical talents and passions of our students,” Interim Superintendent Cheryl Pedisich said.
“We commend the dedication and skill that Melissa, Christopher, Cheyanne, and Christian have displayed. It is wonderful to see their musical achievements recognized as they participate in the most lauded ensembles in Suffolk County and New York State,” Pedisich said.
The students are working with the Riverhead High School band director Joseph Randazzo, and Riverhead High School choral director Dena Tishim to prepare for the NYSCAME festival this fall.
