A State Department of Transportation contractor will begin drainage and roadway construction on a portion of West Main Street (NY Route 25) beginning this month and continuing through March, Riverhead Town Police said in a press release this afternoon.
The construction will take place on West Main Street from approximately 0.6 miles east of Forge Road/Kroemer Avenue to approximately 0.3 miles west of Mill Road, police said.
The roadway will remain open during construction but access to properties may be limited and delays should be expected, police said. Construction traffic signage will be installed and affected property owners will be notified by the contractor prior to the start of construction when the area in front of their property will be affected, according to the press release.
During construction, on-street parking will be prohibited and all trash must be at the curb by 6:30 a.m. on collection days, police said. The roadwork construction area will be made passable at the end of each day, according to police.
The construction work is being done by Rosemar Contracting, police said. Once the roadway construction is completed, sections of the roadway will be resurfaced.
