Judith B. Wurtz of Cutchogue died June 21, 2026. She was 79 years old.

Born Sept. 13, 1946, in Riverhead, she was the daughter of Ann (Kulesa) and Raymond V. Bonczyk. She graduated from Mercy High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in social work from Rosary Hill College. On Nov. 1, 1969, she married William W. “Bill” Wurtz in Riverhead, and the couple made their home in Cutchogue, where they raised their family. She worked as a social worker for Suffolk County and later as a secretary for Pinewood Nursery in Cutchogue and several other local businesses. She also devoted time to community service and was an active member of the East End Lions Club for many years.

She was predeceased by her husband, Bill, in 2018, and her brothers, Timothy Bonczyk, Raymond Bonczyk Jr. and Kenny Bonczyk.

She is survived by her daughters, Melissa W. Fiedler (Brian) of Key West, Florida, and Wendy W. Turdo (Michael) of East Lyme, Connecticut, and two granddaughters.

The family will receive friends Thursday, June 25, from 4 to 7 p.m. at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck. The liturgy of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, June 26, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Ostrabrama Roman Catholic Church in Cutchogue. Interment will follow at Calverton National Cemetery.
