Barbara Kettering of Riverhead, formerly of Greenport, died June 11, 2026, at Westhampton Care Center. She was 88 years old.
Born Nov. 21, 1937, in Greenport, she was the daughter of Erick G. and Elsa (Gustafson) Schelin. She graduated from Greenport High School in 1956 and worked as a bookkeeper at North Fork Sanitation.
She was predeceased by her siblings, Lenny Schelin, Roy Schelin and Elsie Anderson; and her half-sister, Lillian.
She is survived by her son, Karl; her daughter, Kay Welch of Florida; and her sister, Eleanor Smith. She is also survived by three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A graveside service will be held at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead.
