The Long Island Antique Power Association is hosting its 34th Annual Summer Show this weekend.
This year’s show features Ford tractors and farm equipment. “Long Island has a rich history with Ford tractors, trucks and farm equipment, and we are excited to honor that legacy at this year’s show,” the organization said in its brochure.
The Long Island Antique Power Association was founded in 1992 by Bruce L. Young. What began as a backyard club has grown into a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of antique power.
The association’s grounds today include seven buildings: a tractor barn, an engine barn, a sawmill barn housing its 1928 sawmill, a blacksmith shop and the latest addition, the barn for its 1923 Peerless Steam Traction Engine, as well as a welcome center featuring association merchandise and a food shack offering treats and refreshments.
LIAPA invites visitors to explore its grounds, visit each of its barns and speak with its members.
“We are happy to answer questions and share the history behind the equipment, demonstrations, and displays,” LIAPA said.
Show hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
