Ronald W. Schweizer of Jamesport died Aug. 29, 2026. He was 77 years old.
Born in Amityville to Kenneth and Evelyn Schweizer, he grew up in Farmingdale and earned an associate degree from SUNY Farmingdale.
In his younger years, he served in the National Guard. He went on to a nearly 50-year career in construction and public works, working for New York State, the Suffolk County Department of Public Works and Greenman-Pedersen Inc., where he worked on and supervised the construction of roads, bridges and canals throughout Suffolk County, including temporary bridges constructed for the U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills.
He was married to Jeanne for nearly 55 years, and together they raised their children, Ron and Danielle. His family said he could fix just about anything and was always willing to lend a hand to family, friends and neighbors. He also had a lifelong passion for bowling and bowled for more than 60 years, and he enjoyed golf.
He is survived by his wife Jeanne; his children, Ron (Susan) of Brentwood, Tennessee, and Danielle (Ryan Carr) of Laurel; seven grandchildren; and his siblings, Skip and Lorrie.
