Abigayle’s celebrated its grand opening Saturday with a ribbon cutting outside the East Main Street restaurant, where local officials gathered to welcome the new business to downtown Riverhead.

The bistro, cocktail bar and lounge is owned and operated by James and Patricia Mangiacapre, the founders and owners of The Watershed in South Jamesport.

Abigayle’s began serving customers around Labor Day following a summer preview period. Saturday’s celebration marked its formal welcome, with a ribbon cutting followed by complimentary appetizers, wine and beer. The restaurant also advertised a late-night celebration in its downstairs cocktail lounge.

Located at 428 East Main St., Abigayle’s occupies the historic Preston House, restored by Joe Petrocelli.

The restaurant credits Lumber + Salt with its interior design.

Abigayle’s serves lunch and dinner Thursday through Monday, from noon to 9 p.m., according to its Instagram page. Reservations can be made by calling 631-775-1550, and inquiries can be sent to info@abigaylesli.com.
