Former school board president and former teachers' union president Ann Cotten-DeGrasse urges support for incumbents in the May 21 school board election.

Board vice president Amelia Lantz said she “cannot overlook the insidious disregard of the NYSED law and our oath as board members.”

In an undated letter to board president Sue Koukounas, Ann Cotten-DeGrasse complained that “the BOE has acted contrary to New York State Education Law and the Open Meetings Law in appointments made outside of the regular BOE meetings.”

The North Fork Breast Health Coalition honored the organization's founders, Ann Cotten-DeGrasse and Antonio DeGrasse, as well as benefactors Irwin and Flora Garsten.

The organization's founders, Ann Cotten-DeGrasse and her late husband Antonio will be honored with the Pink Pearl Community Service Award. Supporters Irwin Garsten and her late husband Irwin will receive the Pink Pearl Spirit Award.

October is breast cancer awareness month, but one local, all-volunteer group is dedicated to raising breast cancer awareness all year long among North Fork residents — and to helping local residents who are coping with the disease.
