An Ashley Homestore is moving into the store being vacated by Modell's Sporting Goods in Riverhead Centre. The national furniture retail store will take occupancy Feb. 1, according to the center's leasing agent.

Riverhead Kmart begins liquidation
Liquidators have begun working to sell off the stock at the Riverhead Kmart store, which is slated to close its doors Nov. 25. Sixty-five people will be laid off, according to a company filing with the state labor department.

Riverhead Centre owner seeks to convert retail space to restaurant use
The approximately 5,000-square-foot currently vacant storefront would accommodate a restaurant use with 120 to 160 seats, according to the town planning department. A town board special permit would be required, because the site, developed prior to the master plan rezoning, is located in the Destination Retail zoning district, where restaurants are not permitted.
