All registered voters in New York will automatically be mailed an application for an absentee ballot for the primary elections scheduled on June 23, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced at his daily briefing this morning.

The town board last night passed a local law to increase the town supervisor's term from two to four years, subject to a voter referendum on Nov. 3, 2020.

Polls will be open on the two weekends prior to Election Day Nov. 5 as well as on weekdays Oct. 28 - Nov. 1.

Polling takes place at the library today from 10 a.m. through 8 p.m.

Suffolk’s Green Party is calling for an end to “fusion voting” in New York State and for changes in the way the county boards of election are structured and managed.

Voters will elect commissioners in local fire districts tomorrow, where races in Jamesport, Wading River and Manorville are contested.

Two North Fork men, both employees at the Suffolk County Board of Elections, filed Green Party petitions for Republican judicial candidates that contained forged signatures, Suffolk DA Tim Sini said.

A panel of the Appellate Division, Second Department today reversed the Aug. 20 decision  by the trial court, who found in favor of the Suffolk County Board of Elections invalidating Republican State Assembly candidate Mike Yacubich’s petitions and keeping him off the ballot in the Sept. 13 primary election.

The town board split along party lines to reject a proposal that would have sent a four-year supervisor term to the voters for the fourth time since 2005.
