First National Bank of Long Island, which has a branch on East Main Street in Riverhead, will merge with ConnectOne Bank, the two financial institutions announced this month. The merger is expected to close in the second quarter of this year.

The Nassau County-based community bank filed an application this month with federal regulators to establish a new branch at 140 E. Main St. at the corner of East Avenue, the former location of a Capital One branch. The bank plans to open the new branch, its first east of Route 112, in the first half of 2019.
