Great Kindness Challenge

Students created cards for seniors at the Flanders Senior Center and collected “kind coins” as part of a fundraiser to build a school in Mexico, along with many other random acts of kindness during the Great Kindness Challenge this week.

Students at Riley Avenue, Roanake and Phillips Avenue Schools took part in the Great Kindness Challange, a weeklong event geared toward teaching them how to show kindness to friends, family and others.

In a world where kindness seems to be ever shorter supply, fourth-graders at two Riverhead public schools want to spread kindness throughout the community.
