Daytime highs in the 20 and lows in the low teens, accompanied by strong northwest winds at 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph today and up to 60 mph tonight, according to the National Weather Service.

A wind advisory is in effect today until 10 p.m. for Long Island and the New York metropolitan region. The National Weather Service said west winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts of up to 50 mph are expected today, with the heaviest winds expected late this morning into early afternoon.

Temperatures overnight will fall to the mid-30s, and could plunge into the mid-20s int he pine barrens region.
