Winter Storm Warning

An updated winter storm warning from the National Weather Service has increased potential snowfall totals across Long Island to 6-8 inches with isolated higher amounts.

Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 7 PM EST this evening for Long Island and NYC for heavy snow. Accumulations of 4 to 7 inches.

A winter storm is expected to drop 4-7 inches of accumulating sleet and snow tonight and tomorrow, as local highway crews find themselves 'critically low' on road salt supplies.

The National Weather Service in New York has issued a winter storm warning for Long Island for Wednesday evening March 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday March 5 for a wintry mix changing to heavy snow with accumulations of 4 to 8 inches.

A winter storm warning has been issued by the National Weather Service for Suffolk County, for snow and ice, with accumulations of 4 to 7 in. and up to a tenth of an inch of ice tonight. Warning remains in effect until 7 am Monday.

A winter storm warning was extended till midnight and a state of emergency remains in effect in Riverhead as travel on local roads is still hazardous.

The blizzard warning has been canceled and a winter storm warning is now in effect. The warning will remain in effect until 7 pm.
