Timothy F. Buckley, a former Riverhead Town councilman and police officer, died in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He was 51 years old.
A Wading River resident, he was a Riverhead Police Department officer for 18 years. He joined the force in November 1988, and he was the department’s Officer of the Year in 2005.
He retired from the police department in August 2007 to run for a seat on the Riverhead Town Board that November.
The family will receive visitors on Monday, Nov. 21 from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Wading River Fire Department Headquarters at 1503 North Country Road in Wading River.
The liturgy of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Nov. 22 at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church at 1488 North Country Road in Wading River. Interment with United States Army honors will follow at Calverton National Cemetery.
