The Blue Waves (5-2, 6-5) took a tough loss to the league-leading North Babylon Bulldogs Tuesday afternoon, 68-59.

“The kids played great. It was back and forth throughout the game. But we turned the ball over a few too many times and we missed a couple of free throws early on that really made the difference in the game,” Waves coach Dave Spinella said in an interview.

“They’re the top team, so we know we can hang with the best,” Spinella said. The Bulldogs are 7-0 in League III, and 9-1 overall.

The Waves came from behind twice in the game to tie it up. “We played well. They played well. We came up short,” Spinella said.

Shanice Allen had the game-high score with 30 points. She number three in scoring in the county, the coach said.

The Waves will be looking for for their sixth league win when they host Newfield (0-7, 2-9) Thursday afternoon at 4 p.m.
