One woman was sent to the hospital this morning as a result of a two-car accident that occurred on Route 58 just outside the BJ and Kmart shopping center.
Riverhead Police said a gray Lexus sedan westbound on Route 58 collided with an eastbound blue Ford Explorer at about 10:30 this morning, when the Lexus attempted to make a left turn into the shopping center parking lot.
The driver of the Lexus was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center for minor injuries and complaints neck and back pain, police said.
The other driver was not injured. Neither car had any passengers.
Eastbound traffic was stopped and then detoured through the shopping center parking lot between 10:30 and 11 a.m., as officials cleared the scene of vehicles and debris from the accident.
State police, as well as officials from the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department and the Quogue Police Department that were passing through the location, aided local emergency officials in the incident.
