More snow is in the forecast for the overnight hours tonight and tomorrow morning.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Long Island and NYC.
The weather service is forecasting snow accumulations of two to four inches by the time a fast-moving low pressure system passes 100 to 150 miles southeast of Long Island tomorrow afternoon.
“This will be an all-snow event, with snow developing after midnight before ending Tuesday morning for most spots. Snow over eastern Long Island and southeast Connecticut could continue into early Tuesday afternoon,” the National Weather Service said in its forecast discussion published late this afternoon.
“All the equipment is ready,” Riverhead Highway Superintendent George Woodson said this afternoon. “Knock on wood everything is holding together.”
