The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a red flag warning for rapid fire spread from noon to 6 p.m. today. A fire weather watch issued yesterday is no longer in effect.
A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions are expected or occurring. A combination of strong winds… low relative humidity… and dry fuels will create a significantly elevated fire growth potential.

* Winds… northwest 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.
* Relative humidity… as low as 30 percent.
