Ken Ludwig’s “murderously funny” play, “The Game’s Afoot” opens tonight at Bishop McGann-Mercy High School.
The play, which won the 2012 Edgar Allen Poe Award for best play Mystery Writers of America, is set in December 1936, when Broadway star William Gillette, who is admired the world over for his leading role in the play Sherlock Holmes, invites his fellow cast members to his Connecticut castle for a weekend of revelry.
After one of Gillette’s guests is stabbed to death, the festivities quickly turn dangerous. “Then it’s up to Gillette himself, as he assumes the persona of his beloved Holmes, to track down the killer before the next victim appears. The danger and hilarity are nonstop in this glittering whodunit set during the Christmas holidays.”
The show runs Thursday, Nov. 19 through Saturday, Nov. 21 in the school auditorium. Curtain: 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 per person.
