In case you’re still coming out of a holiday haze — what day is it today, anyway? — here’s a reminder that this week’s Wednesday recycling pickup will be paper and cardboard items.
New recycling schedules were mailed out by the Town of Riverhead last month.
Residents, depending on the district they live in, have regular household trash picked up by a town-contracted carter on Mondays and Thursdays or Tuesdays and Fridays.
To find your district and determine whether you have Monday/Thursday collection or Tuesday/Friday collection, go to Riverhead Town sanitation department’s webpage.
Bulk wastes will be collected on the second pickup day each week. Up to six bulk items (appliances, scrap metal, furniture, mattresses, rugs) will be collected. All bulk items must be in safe condition, fluids drained and placed curbside for pickup.
Wednesday is recyclables pickup day, with paper/cardboard and co-mingled plastic, glass and cans collected on alternate weeks. Do not place recyclables in plastic bags.
As in years past, if your collection day is a designated holiday, there will be no service. You should follow your normal schedule the rest of the week.
Unlimited bagged leaf pickup — paper bags only — is offered in late March and early April, as well as during the entire month of November.
Collection services are provided by European American Waste Disposal (Phone: 631-654-3026)
Household hazardous waste collection days, held twice each year, will take place on May 14 and Oct. 15 in 2016.
