Jamesport Fire Department hosted a gas emergency safety training exercise Saturday. The training session was sponsored by the National Grid safety training unit and was held at Jamesport Fire Department headquarters.
Members of East End fire departments received training that included response to gas leaks, explosions, gas emergencies during structure fires, and general gas safety.
East End fire departments responded to several gas emergencies in recent past including a high pressure line break due to a motor vehicle crash, an underground main line leak, and several residential gas leaks, Jamesport Fire Department said in a press release.
“A sound, pre-planned, working partnership between the local emergency response agencies and National Grid promotes a well coordinated response to future gas emergencies which provides the best protection for our residents,” Jamesport Fire Chief John Andrejack said in the release.
