Riverhead Police are looking for someone who burglarized a Baiting Hollow restaurant early this morning.
Police said they responded to a report of a commercial burglary at the Cooperage Inn on Sound Avenue at about 3:40 a.m.
An employee entering the premises discovered an interior office had been broken into and two safes had been removed from the office, according to police.
Officers located both safes elsewhere on the property and the contents of same appeared to be intact, police said.
Police say they believe the intruder(s) may have been inside the building when the employee entered, prompting them to immediately flee the area.
The investigation is ongoing, police said. They ask anyone with information concerning the matter to contact Riverhead Police at 631-727-4500 Ext. 332.
