Former Riverhead councilman and ex-cop Timothy Buckley has been reported missing in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Buckley, 51, was reported missing on Friday and was last seen in the area of Springmaid Resort, Horry County Police Department said in a missing persons alert published Monday night.

A woman told police that no one had seen Buckley since 9:13 p.m. Thursday when he was last seen heading to his camper, according to a news report published on Myrtle Beach Online.

Buckley is described as 5 ft. 7 in. tall, weighing about 190 pounds. He could be driving a black 2015 Ford truck, bearing the South Carolina license tag LRM-301, police said.

Locally, Buckley lived in Wading River. He was appointed to the Riverhead Police Department in November 1988. He was the department’s officer of the year in 2005 and retired in August 2007 to run for a seat on the Riverhead Town Board that November. Buckley won the election and took office in January 2008, but abruptly resigned from the post in February 2009, citing personal reasons.

Anyone having information as to his whereabouts is asked to contact local law enforcement, police said.
